Steve Carey - Aug 28, 2007 7:48 pm (#52 Total: 60) Understand the harm and benefit in everything Replay Played Scenario A from The Guards today with Michael Panikowski taking the British while I directed the Rebels. This scenario has the Brits racing off to escort the persecuted civilian Kazaram Tribe out of the combat zone, and then mopping up the insurrgent combatants. The Rebels are trying to establish checkpoint roadblocks while also eliminating the Kazaram (or at least preventing them from exiting the map). The game started with a BANG! as Michael cleverly sent a recon unit out to gain a visual on the Niluwatsu village of Satzu, where I had a mounted anti-tank gun (ATGM) unit stacked with 2 civilians (that I was hoping to later convert into combat troops). A British mortar barrage effectively wiped out the village with indirect fire, eliminating all three units. The Rebels retaliated by launching rockets into Kitzu, killing a Kazaram civilian unit there. Another insurrgent anti-tank unit scored several hits on a Royals armored unit, which was only stunned (being saved by its increased frontal armor). Meanwhile, Militia tanks (under British control) scattered another Niluwatsu civilian unit outside of Satzu. Shocked by the imperialist attacks upon its fellow tribesmen, the last Niluwatsu civilian transformed into a combatant. This unit didn't last long however, as the mortars took him out on the following turn, thus reducing the entire Niluwatsu tribe. An assault by some Babasda tribal infantry forced a Kazaram civilian to retreat back towards its village. Several other assaults around the map were inconsequential. I next moved my mounted ATGMs forward and engaged (and destroyed) the Militia Tank unit. Mike moved his Royals forward to protect and escort the Kazaram civilians as they fled their village. Several Rebel attacks were screened by escorting British armor, though some stuns did occur. One interesting duel saw a Royals unit take out a Rebel mounted ATGM, but it in turn was flipped and stunned in the firefight. The Rebel eader Kantu Uluke was spotted early by a forward enemy Recce unit, and the information was relayed back to British HQ (i.e., VPs for Mike). Later nicknamed Kantu "The Chicken", he retreated and hid out of fear of marauding British armored units and further mortar attack. Speaking of those darn mortars, they continued to rain destruction catching another dismounted Rebel ATGM unit in the open and killing it. A reprieve for the Rebels did occur when no indirect fire targets could be spotted on a turn, and the mortar missed its 3 dice roll (no hits) on the following turn. North near Manaki village, a dismounted Rebel ATGM unit got a very lucky shot on the exposed Scots Command unit, which can't flip so it was eliminated. The only checkpoint the Rebels could maintain was northwest of Mermu, guarded by the Alamanaki Tribe. Mike had another good move when he sped the Royals 30 forward, and their 2 hex ZOC effectively stopped Rebel units from making a last dash at the fleeing civilians. The Brits would thus be able to escort 3 of the 4 Kazaram tribal units off the map projected by Turn 12, without further delay. Rebel units pulled back to safety, dodging and evading the frustrated British who couldn't pin them down. We had to end the scenario early due to time constraints, but it was a lot of fun and the end-game scoring probably would have been close...
