OFFICIAL Q&A FOR EASTFRONT, NAPOLEON (3rd Ed.), & BOBBY LEE Copyright (C) 1994, Columbia Games Inc. Date Compiled: February 1994 Compiled By: J.D. Frazer This Q&A is offered as a service to Internet users who play Columbia Games' "block game" series. All questions should be directed to J.D. Frazer at a481@mindlink.bc.ca, and should be worded so that they can be answered by a Yes/No or short sentence. --- EASTFRONT Q. In the Summer '41 scenario Soviet Basic Production is listed as 8/16, but in 10.31 it is listed as 12/18. Which is correct? A. 12/18. The same goes for the Winter '41 scenario. Q. Can HQs safely overstack when they deploy as long as stacking limits are observed by moving units out of the hex? A. Yes. Stacking limits are only checked after movement has been completed. Q. It appears that a unit can move between Melitopol and Perekop (near Sevastopol) by rail and not directly by land. Is this true? A. Yes. Q. If my SS Armour is defending in a city, does it have TF on defense or DF on defense as per the Terrain Effects Chart? A. TF. All units defending cities have *at least* DF on defense. --- NAPOLEON (3rd Edition) Q. What happens to a Leader in a rout when there are still other surviving troops? A. He escapes if possible. Q. Regarding squares - if I use a 3 ART unit (DF against squares but SF against Cavalry) against a 3 INF unit and a 3 CAV unit, and I roll a 5, 5, 6, do I allot the 6 against the 3 INF reducing it to 2 INF and then apply the two 5's against the 3 CAV, thereby missing? A. No. Seperate non-square units from units in square. Each unit may fire on one *or* the other formation and hits only apply to the highest strength unit in that formation. --- BOBBY LEE Q. Fortresses are "one column" battles. Are there still reserves? A. Yes. Q. Can artillery within an engaged fortress fire? A. Yes. Q. Can heavy artillery within an engaged fortress fire? A. Yes, from reserve. Q. If units from an adjacent battle retreat into an engaged fortress during a battle, they are disrupted, but can they take hits? A. Yes. They must be in reserve, and therefore can be hit by siege artillery. Q. Enfilade fire only talks about the *enemy* empty flank and enfiladed center. If your own center is engaged, and the enemy has no flank troops, can you get enfilade fire on the enemy troops in your own center? A. No. Q. If someone breaks off a battle in the morning, does the victor still get a night move? A. Yes. Q. Do HQs in Bobby Lee have a 0 step like in Eastfront? A. No. Q. If not, do 1 step HQs die after they've been activated and used? A. Yes. --- As an additional note, SOUTHFRONT will be released in June or July of this year (est. price: US$60), and SAM GRANT, a companion game to BOBBY LEE, will be released in May (est. price: US50). Both will be available at Origins '94.
