From: Rick Robinson Subject: Edelweiss Clarifications and Errata Letter from Steve Rawlings July, 1993 1) (9.11) Is the Soviet player granted automatic permission to conduct Limited Withdrawals and Strategic Withdrawals as well as General Retreats during the months of July and August? Yes. 2) (9.11) If the Soviet player uses automatic permission to conduct a General Retreat, is he also presumed to have "rolled" high enough to obtain permission to abandon a Bridgehead uncovered during the General Retreat per Series rule 17.172? Yes. 3) (Scenario 10.2) Soviet Player Setup. a) The 395th Rifle Division of the 9th Army is depicted on the counter as a Mountain Division. Should the setup say 395th Mountain Division? Yes. b) A 3-2-1 Rifle Brigade (entrenched) in IND status is to be placed at Terek. Where should it be placed? Anywhere adjacent to the Terek River. 4) (Scenario 10.2) German Player Setup. Under the heading "Superior HQs and Supply Units" one Caravan sets up at hex 3643 on map 5. Should this be map 4? Yes. (oops!) 5) (Scenario 10.3) German Player Setup. There is no mention of the 3rd Anti-Tank Battalion of the 3rd Panzer Division although it has a counter. Should the 3rd Anti-Tank Battalion set up with the 3rd Panzer Division? No, it is not used in the game. Sources disagree on the presence of this unit. 6) (Scenario 10.4) Soviet Reserve Unit Placement. May units purchased with Reserve Points be placed on or adjacent to an Operational HQ if the HQ is: a) Depleted? Yes. b) Disorganized? No. c) Disrupted? No. d) Routed? No. 7) (Scenario 10.4) Soviet Campaign Options. a) Once chosen, do the effects of Soviet Off Board Movement apply for the remainder of the game? Yes. b) Which options can the Soviet player choose more than once? Choosing Forest Fires gets you 3 forest fires for the rest of the game. Off Board Movement may be used repeatedly. 8) Scenario 10.4) German Campaign Options: Crimean Reserve Mobilized. a) When does the 42nd Corps enter play? During the Reinforcement Phase. b) Is the "landing" of the 42nd Corps conducted per exclusive rule 6.33? No. c) The 42nd Corps enters at "either road hex on the Taman Peninsula map". I presume this to mean hexes 3632 and 3535 (Taman). Are they the only hexes that 42nd Corps can "land" on? Yes. d) If enemy units occupy the entry hexes of 42nd Corps, is it prohibited from "landing"? No. Simply displace the Soviet units back to allow 42nd Corps to appear. 10) (Scenario 10.4) Is hex 1908 on map 3 considered to be a Soviet Bridgehead at the beginning of the Command Control Segment of Turn 1? No. Rick Robinson jrrob@hiwaay.net Madison, AL
