July 1 1, 1988 Great Patriotic War Errata GDW The following errata have been noted for The Great Patriotic War: MAP The city on map B at hex location 1301 should be Bryansk, not Orel. Cernauti (map B, hex number 2507) should not be part of Romania. The red boundary line should run along the hexside between hexes 2607 and 2606. Cernauti is part of Bessarabia. In the campaign game and the Barbarossa scenario, it is part of the Kiev Military District for setup purposes. On map A, rivers on the hexsides between 11 16 and 1216, and 1309 and 1408 should continua along the entire hex side. Treat any movement over these hexsides as crossing a river. COUNTERS The Hungarian and the Italian mechanized units have an infantry symbol on their reduced sides; the symbol should be a mechanized symbol. The factors are correct. RULE The current air rule makes bombers much too deadly. Change the rule for air-to-air combat. Fighters will kill a bomber on a roll of 4 or 5, and drive the bomber away on a roll of 6. Bombers still kill a fighter on a roll of 6. On page 16 under Bulgaria, add the following sentence to the end of the first paragraph: "The Bulgarians defect on the same turn in which Romania defects." AXIS SCENARIO BOOK Operation Barbarossa: Army Group Center's setup area should include hexes B- 1 61 6, 1 71 6, and 1 81 5. Operation Bagration: Army Group South Ukraine's setup area should include hexes A-2821, and B-2901, 2902, and 2903. SOVIET SCENARIO BOOK Operation Barbarossa: The 19th Army of the Strategic Reserve sets up in hex B-2101, not B-21 1 1. The 3rd Mechanized Group of the Strategic Reserve sets up in hex B-2301, not B-231 1. Cernauti is part of the Kiev Military District. Operation Citadel: The Zhukov leader unit should not be shown at reduced strength. Operation Bagration: The boundaries of the various Ukrainian fronts are difficult to distinguish from the rivers and national boundaries. The 3rd Ukrainian Front's territory extends up to and includes hexes B-2402 and 2503. The 2nd Ukrainian front has seven hexes for setup, up to and including hexes B-2404, 2505, and 2605.
