Joe Keller - 04:35am Aug 27, 1998 PST (#58 of 62) I was looking at NPO's "Late War Scenario: The First Step" and have some questions about the Special Rules: Rule 1--Should this say "the Battle Fleet can't move" or "the Home Fleet can't leave Sasebo"? Compare Rule 6. Rule 3--Can you unload all 45 transports (well 43 since 2 are used as supply bases) in a single hex of Formosa or Okinawa? Rule 3--I assume the 4 hex rule includes the Island in N18. Rule 4--Should this say "4" rather than "8" hexes? Or is the rule meant to include the islands in O15 and P16? Compare with rule 3. Rule 5--All American ships start at Cavite. Should this rule only refer to the last group listed at Cavite? Thanks, Joe brian knipple - 03:27pm Aug 30, 1998 PST (#59 of 62) Rule 1--Should this say "the Battle Fleet can't move" or "the Home Fleet can't leave Sasebo"? Compare Rule 6. HOME FLEET Rule 3--Can you unload all 45 transports (well 43 since 2 are used as supply bases) in a single hex of Formosa or Okinawa? ALL 45 CAN UNLOAD IN ONE COASTAL ZONE (32 MILES ACROSS). Rule 3--I assume the 4 hex rule includes the Island in N18. IT DOES. Rule 4--Should this say "4" rather than "8" hexes? Or is the rule meant to include the islands in O15 and P16? Compare with rule 3. "8" SHOULD BE "4" Rule 5--All American ships start at Cavite. Should this rule only refer to the last group listed at Cavite? YES, ONLY LANGLEY GROUP. Joe Keller - 12:44pm Sep 1, 1998 PST (#60 of 62) If I use the revised rules of GWAS Volumes 2 & 3 to play Volume 1 scenarios, should I use the Gunnery Damage Table, Torpedo Damage Table, and Critical Damage Table from Volume 1 or 2? Vol. 2, Rule 7.3 says "all of a player's ships of the same classification in a hex form a group," but it also says that "a player may choose to combine ships of different classifications into one group," and that "a group may not split up." Should I stack each group in a hex to indicate which classifications are part of the same group and which are not? So in one hex I could have 4 capital ships in one group, and 4 light ships in a separate group, each of which can head off in separate directions. In another hex I could have 3 light ships and 3 "other" classification (I assume this covers merchant ships, colliers, and oilers.) combined into one group of 8, which can't split up. Am I understanding this correctly? Is Vol. 2, Rule 7.33 a change or merely a clarification of Vol. 1, Rule 6.34. That is to say, under Vol. 1 rules can a ship escape by merely moving off the map, even if it is in sighting range? Or should it be treated as the Vol. 2, Rule 7.33 states and be shifted back onto the map. The Italian DD31 counter has a 2 for tertiary gun factors, but the sheet only has one tertiary box. Which is right? Thanks. Great game guys. brian knipple - 04:29pm Sep 1, 1998 PST (#61 of 62) If I use the revised rules of GWAS Volumes 2 & 3 to play Volume 1 scenarios, should I use the Gunnery Damage Table, Torpedo Damage Table, and Critical Damage Table from Volume 1 or 2? That is to say, under Vol. 1 rules can a ship escape by merely moving off the map, even if it is in sighting range? The Italian DD31 counter has a 2 for tertiary gun factors, but the sheet only has one tertiary box. Which is right? 2 is correct.
