David Bolt - 11:18am May 28, 1997 PST (#231 of 231) Currently playing HBtLF and Rossiya 1917 Don Evans asked in message #224 about the rail line running from E1830 to E1831 should be considered a double rail line. Note that while there are two double rail lines running from Liege to the west, there will normally be more than one army tracing supply over either one of these lines (See Standard Rule 7.22E). Don also asked about the IV Reserve corps and the 67th reserve division setup in Scenario 7. Both of these formations should be in W:4703 (not E:4703). Mike Traynor asked in message #225 about the placement of the Bavarian ersatz division. Jeff Millefoglie was right when he suggested hex E5014 for the placement of this formation. He was also right in stating that the Bavarian landwehr division does not, in fact, exist. Speaking of errata, several other items have cropped up in the past two months. Exclusive Rule 13.73/13.75: The French 2 colonial brigade sets up anywhere with a unit from the French First Army. Exclusive Rule 13.15: The artillery detachments are "o" throught "t", not "ai" through "an". Exclusive Rule 13.75: The German ersatz divisions have artilley regiments with 2 Strength Points (SP) and a Barrage Factor of 3. All of these artillery regiments begin the scenario with no SP, they are at cadre strength. The I Ersatz corps artillery also enters the game as a reinforcement at cadre strength. Exclusive Rule 13.15: Belgian artillery units begin the game with 1 SP (only). The other SP must come from French artillery replacements being given to the Belgians (See Exclusive Rule 21.66). Exclusive Rule 13.15: The hex numbers for the Belgian fortress units around Liege and Namur shifted between playtest and final product. As is the case with all the fortress cities, the fortress units should form a ring around the city in question, using the map compass as a guide (e.g., Liege N should be in the hex immeidately north of Liege etc.). Also, the Belgian fortress unit "Huy" should be place in the village of Huy. Clarification: The German IX Corps enters play on Game Turn Four as an "Other Theaters" reinforcement. Clarification: The French XVII Corps begins the war (Scenario 7) with the 2nd Army (as printed in the rules). This confused some players as the corps is usually listed as a Fifth Army formation -- it was transfered from the Second Army to the Fifth Army in the first days of the war. Clarification: Exclusive Rule 12.61A allows the Belgian Army to move outside of Antwerp until the end of Game Turn Two. Clarification: Units in deployed mode can use a bridge to negate the movement point costs for crossing rivers. Clarification: The heavy artillery units of the German Second Army may not stack with VII Corps units at the start of the first scenario, they are released when the Second Army is released. Clarification: Column shifts are first applied, and then the appropriate column is selected. For example, a 12-1 attack with 5 column shifts would be resolved on the 7-1 column. If players of HBtLF have errata questions, they should feel free to contact me at: HBtLF@aol.com. I'll try to answer questions within a few days. David Bolt
