Rob Markham - 08:43pm Dec 26, 1997 PST (#137 of 137) Robert, Questions: 1) When using Bateaux Movement, can you enter a hexside adjacent to an unoccupied enemy fort? Yes 2) When do you do Naval Transport? Can you move a unit by Naval Transport and then activate it and move it normally during the Activation Phase of the same turn? Naval Transport is at the beginning of your movement and units may not move in the turn they are transported. 3) If you attack an occupied settlement, do the troops in the settlement decide if they are fighting inside or outside the settlement (as with forts), or are they automatically considered to be fighting in Woods? They are considered fighting in woods or the most advantageous choice in the hex. 4) If a French unit enters the hex of an unoccupied British fort during the French Activation Phase, and the British move units into the same hex during the British Reserve Movement Phase, who is considered the attacker in the subsequent combat, the French or the British? French 5) If the British capture a French settlement is it then considered British for the purposes of Raiding? No, only original settlements are targets. 6) On the Iroquois Alliance Table, is the +2 for Johnson in addition to the usual +1 for the British, or instead of? In addition Rob Markham - 11:10am Jan 4, 1998 PST (#150 of 157) 1) Can a single British settlement be captured by the French, recaptured, and then subsequently by raided by French Allied Indians (potentially resulting in two shifts in favour of the French)? Yes 2) Can a Leader in Reserve move away from a Enemy force that moves up to attack it in the Reserve Movement phase? Yes 3) The rules say a major victory results in one shift in favour of the winner, the chart says two shifts, which is correct? 2 shifts 4) I have asked this before but my opponent who was playing the British has a real hard time with this. Is it correct that British Allied Indians who capture a French fort (as opposed to a settlement or Fort/Port) can never generate a favourable shift for the British, but can generate an unfavourable shift if a massacre occurs? Yes. Reason was for play balance although I can see where a Brit player may have some problems with it, although as a Brit player there are other ways to earn those vps.
