CRISIS: SINAI ERRATA as of September 21, 1995 RULEBOOK ERRATA (1.2) CHANGE: The last sentence in the paragraph to read: "The opposing player may only examine the contents of a friendly stack when he has declared it to be the target of a Ground Combat attack, or Airstrike or Artillery Bombardment." (2.2.3) ADD: The following design note at the end of the section: Design Note: Some independent units that set up with the Egyptian 2nd and 3rd Armies (such as the 3rd Armored Brigade of the 4th Armored Division) are color-coded as GHQ Reserve units. This was done because these units had been detached from their parent formations, which were in the GHQ Reserve at the start of the war. Many of them were later reunited with their partent divisions when they were released from the reserve. (3.3.1) CHANGE: The first sentence to read: "The First Player adjusts the MC marker of each of his bridges that has a friendly engineer located in one of hexes that it connects so that the lowest MP-cost value on the marker points toward the arrow on the Bridge counter." (3.3.3) ADD: The following note at the end of the section: Note: A Bombardment (or air strike) does not satisfy the requirement that friendly units attack all enemy units whose ZOCs entend into their hexes during the Ground Combat Phase (see 3.3.4). Thus, artillery and airpower cannot be used to conduct "soak off" attacks. (3.5) ADD: The following sentence at the end of the paragraph: "Remove all "Hasty Attack" markers." (6.0) DELETE: The word "white" from the second and third paragraphs (which define Tracked and Motorized units). (6.1) CHANGE: The first first sentence of the fourth paragraph to read: "Commanders, Bridges, informational markers, and 1 HQ unit per hex do not count for stacking purposes (although Bridge Equipement units do)." (9.1.1) CHANGE: The first paragraph to read: "If a unit that has expended more than one-half (rounded down) of its Movement Allowance (including by absorbing a replacement; see 12.1.1) ends its movement in an enemy ZOC, place a "Hasty Attack" marker on top of it. If even one unit that possesses a "Hasty Attack" marker attacks in a ground combat, a disadvantageous combat odds column shift is applied. All "Hastry Attack" markers are removed during the Turn Advancement Step (see 3.5)." (9.1.1) ADD: The following sentence at the end of Exception 1: "Therefore, a unit that is ferried across the Suez Canal by an engineer - expending its full Movement Allowance - would not receive a Hasty Attack marker since it had moved only 1 hex." (9.2.6) DELETE: The fifth paragraph - that is, the one that directs you to subtract the Terrain Combat Modifier from the combat resolution die roll. (9.3.3) DELETE: The "????" from the third and fifth paragraphs. (10.2.2) CHANGE: The first sentence in paragraph #3 to read: "Roll two dice, add any applicable modifiers, and cross-reference the result with the column located in Step #2 to determine the Bombardment result." (11.2) ADD: The following exception at the end of the section: Exception: Only units that can move during the Exploitation Movement Segment may Recombine at that time. (11.2.1) ADD: The following sentence to the end of the paragraph: "Units in the Breakdown box may be recombined at less than full- strength. Place the unit on the map with a number of steps corresponding to the number of Breadown units that were removed from play." (12.2.3) CHANGE: The parenthesized portion of the first sentence to read: "(white for Israeli, tan for Egyptian)." (12.3) ADD: The following design note at the end of the section: Design Note: Unused air replacements are lost because neither side had enough trained pilots to man any more aircraft than they started with. Furthermore, the United States (which sought a compromise solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict) began the airlift solely for the purpose of replacing Israel's losses - and thereby restoring the balance of power. It had no desire to make the Israelis stronger than they were at the start of the war. (13.1.3) CHANGE: The first paragraph to read: "The Israeli Composite Brigade HQ and the commander Tamari, which arrive as reinforcements on the daylight turn of October 21, are special cases. Instad of moving onto the map at an Entry Hex or being flown onto the map by an Air Transport mission, they are simply placed in the same hex as the 162nd Division HQ. Make this placement even if the 162nd Division's HQ is Out of Supply and/or in an enemy ZOC." (13.1.4) ADD: The following rule: 13.1.4 Israeli Divisonal Support Units When the Israeli 143rd, 146th or 162nd Division's HQ arrives as a reinforcement, all of the division's organic support units (i.e., all independent units that have the same color stripe) also arrive on the same turn at the same Entry Hex. The regular (non-TOW) antitank company is always the one received. Example: The 16nd Division's HQ arrives as a reinforcement at Entry Hex A on the October 6 night turn. The 162nd Engineer and Artillery Battalions, and the (non-TOW) 162nd Antitank Company likewise enter the map at Entry Hex A on that October 6 night turn. (14.1.3) CHANGE: The closing portion of the last sentence in the Special Rule to read: "... the Egpytian player may choose to remove the tank battalion from the map and add a step to the brigade." (15.3) ADD: The follwing sentence at the end of the last paragraph in the section: "A single engineer unit can recycle only one Bridge MC marker per Movement Phase, no matter how many bridges run into the hex that it occupies." (15.5) CHANGE: The first sentence to read: "Units may attack across intact (that is, fully-operational) bridges, although their combat factors are still redued by half because they are attacking across the Suez Canal." (17.1.1) ADD: The second sentence in the first paragraph: "Thus, they dod not impede moving or retreating enemy units; do not block enemy Lines of Supply; have no effect upon Tank Recovery; and do not force enemy units to attack the Commando unit(s)." (17.2) DELETE: The text "that is not stacked with a friendly non- commando unit" from the first paragraph. (18.1.2) CHANGE: The second sentence in the first paragraph to read: "During the Maintenance Step of each daylight turn except the October #6 daylight turn, the Israeli player rolls two dice on the Golan Front Air Commitment Table, and applies the appropriate modifier." (18.1.2) ADD: The following sentence to the Special Rule: "However, the modifier cannot be halved on the last turn of any scenario." (18.3) ADD: The following note just below the first paragraph: Note: Unless specifically stated otherwise in the scenario instructions, an air unit may fly two mission per daylight turn (assuming it neither starts the turn in the "FLOWN" box, nor is shot down or aborted). (18.7) ADD: The following sentence to the first paragraph: "A given target may be attacked by any number of Strike missions during a single turn." (18.4.3) CHANGE: Paragraph #2 to read: "Locate the column on the SAM Fire Table that corresponds to the SAM Value determined in Step #1. If the box on the Radar Track that is occupied by its Radar marker contains the code "1L," shift 1 colun to the left on the SAM Fire Table; if the code "2L" appears thre, shift 2 columns to the left." (18.7.1) CHANGE: The first sentence in paragraph #3 to read: "Roll two dice, add any applicable modifiers, and cross-reference the result with the column located in Step #2 to determine the Strike result." (18.8) CHANGE: The first sentence to read: "Whenever a Ground Combat is being resolved during a daylight turn, each player may conduct up to 2 CAS missions (each is declared separately)." (18.9.3) ADD: The following design note at the end of the section: Design Note: A unit that is eliminated due to Scatter has not necessarily suffered heavy personnel losses, but has simply been dispersed to such an extent that it cannot function as an effective combat unit. Thus, even units being carried by helicopters risk elimination when they conduct air transport. (19.1.1) CHANGE: Exception 1 to read: Exception 1: The Eypgitan player receives 4 VPs for each Israeli HQ, enginner, or infantry step (leg, motorized, mechanized, parachute, or commando) that he eliminates. PLAYBOOK ERRATA (Scenario #1: Across Suez) CHANGE: The closing portion of the last sentence in the first Special Rule to read: "... the Egpytian player may choose to remove the tank battalion from the map and add a step to the brigade." (Extended Example of Ground Combat Resolution) DELETE: The references to the -1 die roll modifier printed in the "9" space on the Radar Track which appear in the third and seventh paragraphs of the Attack Declaration Step description. As shown on the SAM Fire Table, the -1 modifier is applied only if a Strike mission is targeting a SAM or Radar Track. CARD ERRATA (Scenario Set-up Cards): The boxed Transport Capacities of the various truck, bus, halftrack, and APC units are erroneously shown in the position where Antitank Factors are printed on the counters. These should located (unboxed) in the upper right hand corner of the Ground Transport Unit counters. (Reinforcement and Repalcement Schedule Card): The Transport Capacities are missing from all of the trucks, buses, halftracks, and APCs that are depicted on the card. (Reinforcement and Repalcement Schedule Card): The parachute infantry unit type symobl is missing from the "Airlift" reinforcement arriving on the 9 October night turn. (Reinforcement and Repalcement Schedule Card): The Israeli Composite Brigade HQ and commander Tamari should be illustrated alongside the October 21 daylight turn. (SAM Fire Table) CHANGE: The third die roll modifier to read as follows: -1 Target is flying a Strike mission vs. a Radar or SAM Track that has a "-1" printed in the box occupied by its Status Marker." MAP ERRATA (Port Said Radar Track) DELETE: The "-1" text printed in the lower right hand corners of the #5, #3, and #1 boxes. (Suez Radar Track) ADD: The text "-1" in the lower right hand corners of the #7, #8, and #9 boxes. (Suez SAM Track) ADD: The text "-1" in the lower right hand corner of the #6 box. COUNTER ERRATA (Sheet #1, Left Side, Row #10): Ignore the grey strip across the bottom of the two 2nd Army TPP bridges and the solitary 2nd Army LPP bridge counter. (Sheet #1, Right Side, Row #2): The 25th Independent Tank Brigade, and all three battalions of the 130th Amphibious Mechanized Infantry Brigade should be printed in the 3rd Army's background color. (Sheet #1, Right Side, Rows #9 and #10): The 128th, 130th, 131st, and 133rd Commando Groups all belong to the GHQ Reserve even though their background color is slightly different than other GHQ Reserve units. Also, ignore the faint grey strip across the bottom of all twenty Egyptian commando units. (Sheet #2, Left Side, Row #4): The tank unit type symbol is missing on the back of the four Ti-67 tank battalion counters. (Sheet #2, Left Side, Rows #11 and #12): All five Israeli truck and bus counters should have their Movement Allowances printed in circles (indicating Motorized Movement Class) instead of squares (for Tracked Movement Class). (Sheet #2, Right Side, Row #12): The unit designation on Granit's leader counter should read "Granit" instead of "440." (Sheet #3, Left Side, Row #5): The fourth air unit in from the left is missing its "Mig-21" designation on the back of its counter. (Sheet #3, Left Side, Row #5): The seventh air unit in from the left is missing its "0" Pilot Rating on the back of its counter. (Sheet #3, Right Side, Row #3): The pair of dots that denote a Motorized Infantry unit are missing from the unit type symbol on the sixth counter in from the left.
