From: Markus Stumptner Subject: Re: S&T 147 Questions I haven't seen anybody answer this, so I went and dug out the rules (bit late, I'm afraid). >As much as I like this game, I really wish I had some errata on hand... There were some errata; AFAIR Kirk Schlesinger forwarded the online errata of that S&T period to Andrew Webber when he left Decision Games, you might want to contact Andrew. I'd mail you the errata Kirk sent me if I could find them... >* How far must a unit retreat? Is there a minimum or maximum? 1 Hex. (Never mentioned in the rules or errata, but we used that automatically and found out in one of the MOVES optional rules articles for the game that it was correct.) >* If a Communist Afghan armor/infantry/commando unit defects before >limited or full intervention starts, does it still convert to a mobile >unit? Yes (matter of equipment and doctrine). The rebels can't put up mobile units without intervention because they don't have the hardware. But a defecting unit would already start out with the hardware. >* Afghan units can only be converted to their reliable side by playing an >Agitprop marker at creation, right? Or can they be converted at any time >by playing an Agitprop chit? They can be converted at any time (9.8, 9.81). In fact, it's the other way round: the rules stress (9.82) that it is *also* possible to make units reliable on the turn they are created, so later conversion is the expected standard approach (naturally, since you start out with lots of unreliable units). >* How can the Communists ever benefit from the Pushtu faction? They are >prohibited from placing any unit inside a Pakistani city or town - >therefore there is no way that the Communists will ever be able to >mobilize a unit in Pakistan. 9.2 Factional Regions excludes Pakistani CITIES, but not towns. >* Due to the printing error, I'm not sure exactly how many guerrilla and >mobile units the resistance gets. What is the correct number? As far as I remember, the number of misprinted front and back sides match. So, what's there is what's available. Hope that helps. Btw, the MOVES issues which contained optional rules for the game were #68 and #81, as far as I remember.
