Ted Kuhn - Jul 20, 2004 12:54 pm (#2676 Total: 2698) Cruiser Warfare Sorry if this is perfectly clear to everyone (else) but... Just purchased Cruiser Warfare as a first purchase in the GWAS series. Nowhere in the rules does it state that ships can move further than 1 space on the operational (large) map. Are we just supposed to know that ships with a speed of "2" (or better) can move 2 spaces on that map? Or are all fleets, regardless of speed, only allowed to move one space? Thanks! Dave Boe - Jul 20, 2004 1:57 pm (#2677 Total: 2698) My name is Dave, and I am a wargamer Granted, I haven't really ingested the rules yet, but I was looking for something that showed how many areas a ship could move, and came up empty. Help! Elizabeth Fulda - Jul 20, 2004 6:33 pm (#2678 Total: 2698) Sales/Marketing, Avalanche Press Or are all fleets, regardless of speed, only allowed to move one space? Here's what I've got: "That's correct. Speed 2 ships move more often in tactical combat and have an advantage when commerce raiding. The counters are meant to be interchangeable with the standard Great War at Sea games (this was understandably non-negotiable with series fans) and in those games speed 2 and 2+ ships can move faster on the operational map at a cost in much higher fuel consumption. But there it's 30.8 nautical miles across a sea zone, vs. hundreds across a Cruiser Warfare area. Strategic speed differences aren't enough to show up at this scale (even the fast British battlecruisers went to the South Atlantic at something like 10 or 12 knots)." The First Sea Lord has spoken.
