ctyates - Feb 28, 2009 11:56 am (#3013 Total: 3015) The Crusader Rex folder is a little quiet at the moment so I'd like to post these questions here:- A couple of clarifications 1) 8.0 should also state no draw on a mud turn? 2) winter campaign gives full movement and force march option? 3) If the beseiger decides to retreat on the second turn of a seige can he retreat to any empty adjacent space (or adjacent space being beseiged by friendly forces) not just the ones that he as attacker entered by on the previous turn? 4) The rules (1.4) say that storming is a normal battle so presumably it has 4 rounds. Like a normal battle the attacker can’t shoot at the defender in the 4th round but the defender does get to fire? So if the attacker opts to storm Antioch with 5 blocks against 3 defenders they resolve 3 normal rounds (with double defence) then at the start of the 4th round if all the attackers are ‘A’ and the defenders are ‘B’ then the attacker can withdraw or retreat without being fired at but the other way round and the defender would get in a free shot. Presumably the attacker is forced to put up the maximum number of blocks he can each round so he couldn’t just offer up 1 block on that 4th round and keep the other 4 out of the combat? Thanks very much , 2 games so far and two Saracen wins 4/3 but the Franks had chances in both games. Chris Niko Ruf - Mar 1, 2009 1:29 pm (#3014 Total: 3015) Will game for food. It's been a while since I played, but here is what I recall (most of it from discussions on the CG company forum): >1) 8.0 should also state no draw on a mud turn? Jerry Taylor has clarified that draws are not canceled by mud. >2) winter campaign gives full movement and force march option? For a single move, yes. >3) If the beseiger decides to retreat on the second turn of a seige can he retreat to any empty adjacent space (or adjacent space being beseiged by friendly forces) not just the ones that he as attacker entered by on the previous turn? The besieger can only retreat via roads used during the current game turn. If he did not add reinforcements to the battle this turn, his units must stay in town, although they can stop storming any time. > The rules (1.4) say that storming is a normal battle so presumably it has 4 rounds. Like a normal battle the attacker can’t shoot at the defender in the 4th round but the defender does get to fire? The attacker declares storming forces at the beginning of each battle turn - up to the limit - and he may declare 0 blocks, which ends combat. So there never is a fourth turn in sieges. Unfortunately, none if these points are clear from the rules themselves. Still a fascinating game, but could do with an updated rulebook.
