ERRATA AND CLARIFICATIONS

The following errata and clarifications are based on series of

questions put to, and answered by, Avalanche Press, in a number

of phone calls. Also consulted were the numerous questions and

answers posted on the GREAT WAR AT SEA SECTION of Consimworld on

this book. However all errata and clarifications in this article

should be considered to be unofficial.

COUNTERS

The Japanese counters printed on the back of the book are

incomplete. The battleship Suo (B13) is missing but it is the

sister ship to the Sagami (B12) and that counter can be use for

it. The cruiser Soya (C23) is also missing so players will just

have to use equivilent Russian cruiser Variag (C10). The Japanese

battleship Iwami (B11) should have a speed of 1s, not 1+.

SCENARIOS

In Scenarios 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 the

American armored cruiser New York is misnumbered. It should be

AC02, not AC01.

In Scenarios 8 and 9 the American armored cruiser Brooklyn is

misnumbered. It should be AC03, not AC02.

In Scenarios 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 the American armored cruisers

Huntington (AC05), Pueblo (AC07), and Frederick (AC08)

historically operated under their original names which were West

Virginia, Colorado, and Maryland respectively.

In Scenarios 17 and 18 the Russian prizes in the Japanese fleet

use the hit record charts on page 20 (and the values listed

therein) under their Japanese names, even if using the Russian

counters. Note that the battleship Retvizan (B27) is actually the

Japanese battleship Hizen (B14) and the Poltava (B23) is actually

the Japanese battleship Tango (B15).

In Scenario 20 add this Special Rule: As this scenario occurs in

the dreadnought era, use the regular printed speeds for the

German armored cruisers Scharnhorst (AC13) and Gneisenau (AC14).

HIT RECORD CHARTS

General Note

Players will note that there are several ships that have more

fuel circles in these scenarios than they do during scenarios

that occur during the First World War. Many of these ships were

first line vessels during the scenarios depicted in this book,

but by the time of the Great War were second line vessels and had

lost some of their fuel storage capacity due to modernization

refits. Those ships will not be listed here. Only those ships

which appear in games during the same time period as this book

will be noted.

Japanese Prizes

The cruiser Tsugaru (C22) should have a speed of 1, not 1s.

The cruiser Soya (C23) has a point value of (10) and should have

a speed of 1+, not 1s.

French Ships

The protected cruiser Chateaurnault (PC02) has no torpedo value,

not 1.

The battleship Liberte (B23) does not have a listing on the

chart. Use the values for the battleships (B09-11) in the GREAT

WAR AT SEA: MEDITERRANIAN game for the Liberte.

British Ships

The battleship Albermarle (B29) should have five hull boxes, not

four.

The battleships Caeser (B32), Victorious (B34), Illustrious

(B35), Jupiter (B36), Mars (B38), Magnificent (B39) and Hannibal

(B40) should each have a point value of 24, not 27.

Austrian Ships

The light cruiser Zenta (CL06) should have two hull boxes, not

one.

Spanish Ships

The cruisers Castilla (C03) and Reina Cristina (C05) each should

have one more fuel circle.

The cruiser Reina Cristina (C05) should have a speed of 1s, not

1.

The colliers each have a point value of 7.

German Ships

The cruisers Kaiserin Augusta (C01) and Cormoran (C04) each

should have two more fuel circles.

The cruisers Irene (C02) and Prinzess Wilhelm (C03), and the

gunboat Panther (GB01), each should have one more fuel circle.

The collier has a point value of 7.

Argentine Ships

The armored cruiser General Belgrano (AC02) should have two more

secondary gunnery boxes and two more hull boxes.

The armored cruiser San Martin (AC03) should have a point value

of 13, not 15, and two more hull boxes.

The armored cruiser Garibaldi (AC04) should have a point value of

11, not 15, and two more hull boxes.

The protected cruiser 9 de Julio should have a point value of 6,

not 98.

The armed merchant cruiser has a point value of 4.

Haitian Ships

The gunboats Capois la Mort, Alexander Petion, and L'Ouverture

are misnumbered. They should be GB02, GB03, and GB04

respectively.

The gunboat L'Ouverture should have a tertiary gunnery value of

1, not 2.

American Ships

The armored cruisers New York (AC01) and Brooklyn (AC03), and the

protected cruisers New Orleans (PC04) and Albany (PC05), each

should have one more fuel circle. The New York is also

misnumbered, it should be AC02, not AC01.

The cruiser Minneapolis is misnumbered, it should be C13, not

C123.
