Guy Pickett" Kevin, Trying out the 3rd edition for the first time and have the following questions / observations and I would be grateful for your feedback. Although I have enjoyed this series for some time, I hope these questions are not too stupid! Not dumb at all ... worthy questions. Q. 24 Jan - Frimont & Wrede - Shouldn't they start/enter at Chaumont as part of the Bohemian Advance Gd that Blucher is fumbling towards? A) You are correct. Change their reinf. entry hex to Chaumont (E3754) Q. Critical battles - the threshold for morale shifts is much higher than the original game. I note that the criteria for critical battles is lowered in BiI, but not in NAB - is this intentional as the frequent shifts in morale was (IMHO) a great strength of the original. A) You make a good point. The Battle of La Rothiere was bad for French morale, even though the losses were about equal. Losses were about 6 SPs per side. So lower the threshold to 'more than five (5) SPs ... ' Q. Bridge trains - if they are always left behind in retreat (even if undeployed) then there would seem to be an awful lot of bridge train swapping throughout the game which does not seem right. Capturing a bridge train would be a coup for the French but it seems too easy here. A) Try to keep them with a Major General and out of the fray. Q. I'm still getting used to the combat options - but what is the effect of losing effectiveness? Are the units i) unable to go into the reserve and ii) unable to add their strength to the attack? A) Yes. [Editor sez:] Sorbier's strength needs checking. I'd guess something like 8 5 5 6 7 6 6 5 per scenario start. That needs to be researched.
