docdecision - 10:29am Feb 4, 2001 PST (#62 of 81) Here is the latest answers to the questions: 1. The Terrain Chart lists cities as having no defensive effect, but the rules in 9.62 mention cities as doubling terrain; who's right. No defensive effect. 2. The replacement units aren't marked for size. I'm treating the one-steppers as brigades, everything else as divisions, is that correct? (That's how the non-replacement units go) No, even the replacement one-step units are divisions (they are hauling around the division services) 3. What hex is Venezia in? 1428 4. Did the Austrians really leave the Trent front unguarded except for fortress troops? I dont see any set up to counter the Italian army deployed there. In the Caporetto scenario they get the seven divisions and three brigades of 11th Army; in the other scenarios they get both 10th and 11th Army. It's not a very powerful screen for half the map, but they got away with it. 5. The Bavarian Alpenkorps is shown as infantry in the game. Is this correct? Should have been light infantry. 6. How is lagoon terrain handled? TEC indicates no movement point cost and no effect on combat. No notes included either. Austrian battleships may not enter lagoons (13.54). 7. How can a army headquarter unit move through mountains or cross a river into rough terrain with a movement factor of two and needing three movement points? Rule 13.4 is correct. It may cross a river into rough terrain, but not into mountain terrain. 8. In the Caporetto Scenario, can Austrian/German reserve units (3) be assigned to the 14th Army at the start and receive those first turn benefits (doubling attack factors)? Yes. 9. If a 0-1-3/0-2-0 brigade entrenches in rough terrain on the other side of a river, is its final defense value 6 (three times the entrenched defense factor) or is it limited to 3 (three times the mobile defense factor)? 6 10. Can units be set up entrenched? yes Doc
