From The Canadian Wargamers Journal (26/1991) Additions/Errata to Sideshow Counter Change: Reduce German Leaders Kraut and Von Prinz to a combat rating of 7. (5.2.2) Addition: A player may not roll for Op Points twice in a row. He must undertake at least one operation after rolling for additional Op Points, after which he may then roll once again. Addition: Any time the German Player rolls for OP's and there is a German Leader outside GEA, add one (+1) to that dice roll. (8.27) Addition: A unit required to retreat that is surrounded by enemy units/impassable terrain may, at the instant it is required to retreat - and before determining the length of retreat - attempt a Breakout. To do this, the player must expend an OP and designate against which hex he is attempting the Breakout. The strength of his 'retreating" units must be at least twice that of the units in the Breakout hex. If he satisfies those requirements, he conducts combat against the target hex under the following additional conditions: 1. The Breakout units double any SP losses. 2. The Breakout force does not count as artillery points. 3. Add one to all commitment ratings for breakout units. (Fear does wonders for initiative.) 4. Defending players maximum retreat (if he gets that result) is two hexes. 5. If a hole has been opened, the Breakout units (including uncommitted units from #3) must now retreat according to their Retreat Length die roll (8.26). Enemy ZOCs are ignored. If no hole has been opened the last paragraph of 8.27 is applied. Breakout is considered part of the original attack - even though it is, in reality, an additional attack (by the defender). (10.21) Change: A German Leader's combat rating is not subtracted from the Allied Combat Roll when the Germans are outside German East Africa.
