FAQ: 1.) The Tacitcal chits: Banzai/Resolute Defenders/Night Attack/IJA Heavy Artillery support/Bomber attack/The Will of the Emperor/KMT heavy Artillery/Li Tsung Jen's Command/ is designated as "use once as turn". Does this mean these chits are used only once in a game turn? If multiple same chits are drawn, excess are wasted? Own action turn/use once means that it is used as an action turn.(think of it as an action impulse in Storm Over Arnhem terms). It can be used multiple times in a game turn(as long as you have the tactical chits to do it). Also the Resolute Defenders chit can be used to preempt a movement(read the tactical chit description closely). Think of the Japanese units allowed to move into an area then counterattacked by the defending KMT Chinese before the Japanese can launch an attack(the Japanese moving units are treated as being 2. 2) Is "infiltration movement" allowed? Does unit have no effect on enemy's movement? Since retreats into area with any enemy unit is prohibited, this is a very important point. Rule 6.1 says MP cost for entering enemy controlled area is only 1 MP. Movement goes like this, basically it costs 1 MP to enter an adjacent area. Entering an area under enemy control(occupied only by enemy units) costs +1 extra MP. 3. ) Grand canal movement : Does Japanese unit pay +1 MP Extra to cross canal? Yes and tank units cannot cross the grand canal except at the rail crossing point. 4. Setup : Rule 16.0 2nd paragraph seems to be some left out of another game rules Ignore paragraph 2. 5. KMT setup : Is it possible to left some areas unoccupied? Yes 6. Do Japanese units using the Banzai chit move a max of 1 area & are they spent after they use this chit? Yes to all. joserizal - May 6, 2007 7:38 am (#267 Total: 270) Storm Over Taierzhuang samurai stalingrad Tactics: Here are some strategies that both sides can use in the game: Imperial Japanese Army(IJA): You have the firepower use it!!!! Its good to kill as many Chinese KMT units but remember, you only have a limited time to achieve your goals. And you are outnumbered at least 3-1 by the Chinese. KMT Chinese: You have the numbers, you outnumber the Japanese at least 3-1 and time is on your side but don't let it fool you, exepct lots of your units getting whacked. The most important thing to remember is that units cannot retreat into enemy occupied areas, units which cannot retreat are destroyed. Use your numbers for mobility, a headlong charge vs. the Japanese will just get you killed. For everybody, use and play the tactical chits well, you will see that both sides have their own quirks and abilities in the tactical chits. My tactic as the Japanese is not exactly to dive into Taierzhuang but kill as many Chinese units as I can, so it makes my job in getting into Taierzhuang easier. It is easier if the Chinese units are bunched up together and use an artillery chit on them then doing banzai on them later. Tactics 2: Also when Tang En po's trap is sprung event happens, do not think its the end of the world for the Japanese player., I go into kill mode/laager mode as the Japanese and try to kill as many chinese units as I can. create clear areas to retreat to and at the same time make time for a drive at Taierzhuang or my victory areas. The people who played this game so far from Japan, Brazil and Canada have found this game to be tense all the way to the end and competetive. "Yes, nice & fun game it is.Anyway, it is a good game. Excellent job!" -Keisuke Oda(Tokyo, Japan) "I like the game and your engine, it´s simple, easy to learn and very "playable". When I sayed before, it´s very good for newbies, and is an excelent entrance in wargame world." -Antonio Marcello(Rio De Jenero, Brazil) joserizal - May 6, 2007 8:27 am (#268 Total: 270) Storm Over Taierzhuang the Samurai Stalingrad Hello, For those who go to Boardgame geek(BGG). For more clarification: Will play of a single chit use up an entire action turn, except for "Dare to Die", "Engineer", "Heores of Taierzhunag" and "Resolute Defenders usage #2"? Answer: "Dare to Die", "Engineer", "Heores of Taierzhunag" and "Resolute Defenders usage #2"? Japanese air force, KMT air force will not use up an entire action turn. joserizal - May 7, 2007 8:40 am (#270 Total: 270) More clarifications I think the element of the action is a collection of units, which take the same action. I want to call it as “Group”. In my understanding, Group is; a) Formed from the 1) un-spent units 2) in the same area at the start of the current action round 3) at the discretion of the action player. b) Consisted of any numbers of units from as few as one to up to ten units. C9 Unable to be divided nor dropping-off a part of it during the action. d) Will be disbanded upon finishing its current action. Assuming above assumption is correct, Tactical Chit based actions like “Banzai”allows “fire-then-move”action must be within the stack limit of the destination area? If it exceeds, no movement is allowed at all, or movement of a part of the Group is allowed (the latter violates the above assumption C)? Answer: Yes to all and I would like to add that they are spent after moving or firing.(exception: resolute defenders chit). Terrain modifier against Fire - If the target area is competitive status (i.e. units from BOTH armies present), no terrain modifier is applicable. Is this also true for “Bombardment”type chits like “IJA Hvy Art”? Answer: No actually depends on the Tactical chit played. If an area is in competetive status(contested) usually the defenders do not get the terrain modifier. Except if the following chits are used: IJA heavy art and Bomber Support. When using IJA heavy art, terrain modifiers apply no matter what. In Bomber support, you can only use this in an area without Japanese units in it, so the KMT Chinese units are in control. If the chit says Terrain effects if applicable then in the case of contested areas, the targets do not get the terrain modifier. - On the other hand, when using chits like “Banzai”for“fire-then-move”action into enemey controlled area, is terrain modifier applied? Answer: Depends, If using option Banzai chit option #1, then in the case of a contested area, terrain modifiers are not applied, if the area is KMT controlled then terrain modifiers apply. Option #3. Terrain modifiers do not apply since technically the units moved into the area and are firing after they have moved into the area. Retreat When retreat from the area, all of the retreating units must go to the same area, or can divided into several areas? Answer: Yes they can Stacking Another editing error. rule 3.1 refers that Stacking restriction is in effect all the time, but 3.1.1 says it is in effect at the end of movement. Which is correct? Answer: Disregard 3.1.1(It was not in the original rules). Any movement that results in more than 10 units into an area is not allowed.
