giovanni fazio - 10:45pm Jun 10, 2003 PST (#2801 of 2893) Hi, Here are 2 questions re. "Ardennes 1944": 1.) Support: Normal attacks are allowed one support unit, prepared attacks two; what is the limit for defenders? 2.) When unit trace a LoS to their HQ, is the range the same as the LoC? 3.) Breakthroughs (Percee) last until the end of the current activation, or the end of the turn? Not clear . . . Thanks in advance . . . Re. the game, wow, anyone looking for a truly scary German advance in a Bulge game should check this out. With 2-day turns, it seems like the panzers just fly across the map! Tips: the Allies should not hesitate to use the roadblocks around Ambleve and Schoenberg on Turn 1, and the Axis should definitely use the "fuel dumps" to speed on their spearhead . . . lucolivier - 03:21am Jun 11, 2003 PST (#2802 of 2893) Grand Maitre de l'Academie du Wargame Hi Giovanni, Answer for the first question, for the two other I have to check. The support limits are the same for the attacker and the defender (one for normal and two for prepared). lucolivier - 02:36am Jun 15, 2003 PST (#2834 of 2893) Grand Maitre de l'Academie du Wargame Hi Giovanni, Now I have the rules in hand: 1.) Support: Normal attacks are allowed one support unit, prepared attacks two; what is the limit for defenders? Same as for the attacker. 2.) When unit trace a LoS to their HQ, is the range the same as the LoC? Yes, 6 for Allies and 4 for Germans. 3.) Breakthroughs (Percee) last until the end of the current activation, or the end of the turn? The end of the turn. About your comments (and Charles's comments). I agree that the ISS corps if well played (I mean better than history) that can be havoc in the US lines. If you take St Vith, you are far away from Meuse River and do nothing else. Perhaps the Elseborn Ridge would be stronger, I had discussion with french player thinking the same. I think the German attacks was bad because they send infantry first and tanks after so, they didn't achieve a breakthrough... But I'm open to more discussion. The major problem is to remove all german opportunity because historically they did it bad...
