An updated rulebook is all this game needs" Agreed, Josh. The game is an easy triple out of the box, but now that I think I finally have it down, it's going to be a homer! The rules have been acknowledged as a bit rushed due to translation time constraints. Here are some clarifications from Martin Wallace (my comments are in brackets): 1) Foot Skirmisher and Archer units do negate each other (i.e., like the Light Horse example), whether both are the same or one is a Foot Skirmisher and the other is an Archer. 2) Action 5 is to place a control marker in an area you already control (valuable against Diplomatic Attacks as we've discussed). 3) Cards are correct where they conflict with the rules (e.g., Elephants versus Cavalry, Artillery versus Elephants, etc.). Also, the one Available Army Foot Skirmisher without its text box was a layout error--text from the other Foot Skirmishers applies. 4) Forts have no effect during Diplomatic Attacks--fort changes hands in a Diplomatic Attack (if successful). Hope this helps...
