The British only just held on behind ridge with Wellington personally rallying the troops. Long range artillery in the centre (where British had occupied a farmhouse), and the right quiet. As the Prussians quickly reinforced the left. The French realised they couldn't make headway (they had no general!) and withdrew. Their cavalry withdrawing to the reserve. Meanwhile they had opened up with a lot of guns on the right (all positions from the British point of view) and the British artillery there was soon silenced. The Guards however still held Hugomont. The revitalised French Cavalry then reappeared (with a general) and drove all bar the guards out of the position. They then brought up infantry to try to take Hugomont. At this stage, the Dutch appeared and reinforced the position. The French cavalry reappeared and the Dutch formed a square. The French horse artillery moved up to shoot at the squares. The main French foot artillery had by this time gone back to the reserve, and appeared in the centre, just in time to face Uxbridge leading 4 allied Cavalry brigades in a mass cavalry charge, 2 French guns were destroyed, but the cavalry were blown, Uxbridge killed, and with no infantry support they fell back. At this same time, the Prussians finally advanced on the left flank, with their now large reserves, and the Dutch on the right had silenced the horse artillery. The final position had the French losing on the Allied left, the center was stalemated, and the French no longer had sufficient forces to take the Allied Right Flank. All within 60-90 minutes!
