Gunslinger is a tactical recreation of old West gunfights published (years ago) by Avalon Hill. It's a great game-I bought a used copy through the Net a few weeks ago and love it. Basically, the map is composed of eight (?) double-sided boards with various features, i.e. buildings, gullies, trees, etc. printed on them. The map is divided up into hexes, each of which is (I think) a yard in diameter. Players move counters that stand for the gunfighters around on the map and try to blow each others' heads off. Actions are resolved through a card system--to declare an action, you have to reveal its card. Which action is printed on the back side of which other one and the number of each action in each card set limit how much you can do in one turn. When you shoot, get hit, sprint, etc., you draw a result card to see what happened. Factors taken into account during combat include: Weapon accuracy, reliablity of ammunition types, target position and movement, range, shooter's condition, aim time, etc. It's a good system--strikes a very good balance, IMHO, between detail and playability. I strongly recommend Gunslinger if you can get your hands on it. It's a lot of fun, easy to learn, and doesn't take a huge amount of time for a session (unless you want it to!). cHRIS
