From: Richard Fluck Subject: Legion (Society of Ancients) As a member of the SoA, you tend to get a free game each year. This year they have pushed the boat out. Legion is a crossover between minis and boardgaming. The board is a hex of hexes, you get loads of terrain pieces and two sheets of rather small counters (double sided, needing assembly). The rules are A5 size, with introductory and advanced sections, plus 36 historical scenarios (Marathon to Munda). There are tips on converting it to minatures, plus design your own rules, ala DBM/DBA. Scale is 500-5000 men per unit, time scale variable as is map scale, according to unit scale. Basic system is Yugo Igo: Command phase - dice for command points Movement - you move units Defender attacks You attack Rules for generals, weather, terrain and special units fill it out. Major downside - making the units - I hate DIY double sided units - glue everywhere and still not aligned properly. However, it is likely to be cheap, and quick play and fun. Richard
