I have been playing wargames for 20 years now, and this is one of the best games I have ever played. I stongly recommend it, it is REALLY fun (moreover, the rules are of moderate complexity). I have played it many times on both sides, and the outcome is very open (each side has its strengths and weaknesses). The game (using the advanced rules which I find much more interesting) is an absolutely fascinating mix of geographical, military and political objectives. The Briton player, starting with a few tribes, tries to spread the rebellion all over Britain, and the Roman player's goal is to prevent this while in the same time trying to put some tribal factions on his side. As tribes are obviously scattered all over the map, objectives are everywhere, and no sooner has a revolt been crushed in a place that another one starts erupting somewhere else ! Another positive point is that every game is different, as rebellions can occur and be suppressed all over the map (i.e. you don't always have the same battles at the same places like in some other wargames). I also think it can be played as a multi-player game quite easily (as Briton and Roman troops fight on many fronts). A useful tip: using the variable activation rules, I suggest you make for yourself a map of Britain with the location of the tribes and their activation conditions. It makes the visualization of these conditions and the objectives to attain really much easier! To make the map of Britain, just take some normal white paper sheets, cover all the game map with them, draw the tribal limits and write down the activation conditions within each tribal territory. You will then stick the paper sheets on separate cardboard pieces, and put them together near the game map for reference when you play. Enjoy ! Emeric Mignotte, Paris, France ex.plor@wanadoo.fr
