joserizal - Dec 13, 2007 3:11 am (#5266 Total: 5274) Anyways got to try out the first scenario of Bretagne. Basically the first turn was recruiting leaders for the blois by card play and the Montfort player recruiting troops for the defense of Nantes and Rennes(the two goals of the scenario). Second turn sees the departure of Jean de Normandi due to Montfort devious card play(card M10, Treaty of Malestroit). The Blois counter with playing the B-11 card Ride, in which 3 different l,eaders are activated and converge on Nantes setting up for a major battle. Battle of Nantes: Blois: Charles de Blois(Main activated leader), Louis d' Espagne and Raoul de Cahours(defected to Blois on turn 1). with 5 Knights and 2 Mercs vs. Montforts: Jean de Montfort the older with 2 Knights(1 reduced), 2 Mercs and 3 Militia. 4 Tactical chits are drawn: 3 T11 Longbow chits are drawn!!!!, T12 Superior Tactic chit is drawn. Basically a battle with the Blois having superior numbers and force vs. the Montforts having superior tactics and weapons. Blois 26 CF vs. Montfort 19 CF. Blois roll 2 inflicting 8 damage. Montforts roll a 12 inflicting 14 damage. Blois are defeated losing 2 Merc units. Montforts win but lose 2 Militia units(cannon fodder). Blois also lose the leaders Charles de Blois and Raoul de Cahours. The battle is a disaster for the Blois and the game ends with an automatic Montfort victory due to Charles de Blois being captured. On to the next scenario.... joserizal - Dec 13, 2007 3:21 am (#5267 Total: 5274) BookmarkEmail to Friend The game is quite interesting, the first scenario is only two turns long and playable in an hour or two. Maybe less for those used to playing 30 years war GMT. At the start the Montforts have the advantage with having much more forces on the map than the Blois but the Blois have safe outer boxes where they can marshall their forces to attack into the map. I think the card Chevauchee(Ride) B-11 and M-11 is very important as you converge up to 3 armies into 1 area. Also I would highly recomend that you field your subordonates for hte battle, fiedling your head leader can be deadly to your cause as what happened in the game. Those who are familiar with 30 years war GMT will find that a lot of the game is taken from 30 years war but with several different things added like the tactical chit system. SInce I am a big fan of 30 years war, I really like this game, on to the next scenario... joserizal - Dec 13, 2007 3:32 am (#5268 Total: 5274) A few variations. I did not see this while I was translating the game to english but I suggest that: The 5 outer areas: 3 Blois(Normandi, Anjev and Poatev), 1 Cahour(Noirmoutier, only entered by Raoul de Cahour) and 1 Montfort(Bro Saoz, England). Leaders cannot recruit, pillage or be attacked in these areas. Armies here are automatically paid. Stacking limits are also not observed in these outer areas. From gameplay I think the above is quite logical.
