From: perrym Subject: Re: End of the Iron Dream David, The article in Paper Wars #16 is a little long to retype but I will include my suggested optional rules: 1. All eliminated German units must be rebuilt to reduced status before reduced units can be rebuilt to full strength: Hitler continued to build new formations at the expense of tried ones. Even if all replacements went to units in the field, it's doubtful that he could have maintained the force that the player can in this game. 2. Forts can only be built to level 2: German fortifications were difficult but not impossible. If the whole West Wall gets built to level 3 and the right number of steps occupy each, it's possible that 12 Allied corps (4 hexes @ 3 per) cannot destroy enough steps to ever take the fort because of the number of steps and shifts involved (regardless of the defensive strengths). 3. Make the CRT bloodier: Make a roll of 1 an automatic step loss result (Using the losses given). this will give teeth to the lower odds columns where most of the combat takes place. 4. Set a limit to column Shifts: Limit column shift to a max of 3. My prefered choice is #1 as it introduces the historical disintegration of the German army. Try the game first with no mods then add these rules as needed to balance it out, if you think it needs balancing. Enjoy. Mark Perry
