From: "Jens Hoppe, EUV" Subject: Hannibal variant CRT Fellow Hannibalites, Some time ago I came up with the following CRT as an alternative to playing out battles using Battle Cards. Basically, the attacker rolls 3d6 ("TDR" in TAHGC terminology). Add appropriate modifiers, and the CRT tells you the winner and the CUs lost. I should point out that I have never used the CRT in an actual game. At one point I just felt that playing all battles using Battle Cards was a waste of time, given that 1) playing cards was merely a "gamey" mechanism and not an attempt to simulate anything, and 2) the tactics involved are not that complex. I have based the CRT on a program I made, which simulated battles, given the number of battle cards on each side, and the battle ratings of the generals involved (the results of a similar program are on grognards, I believe...) I believe the results are pretty close to expected results when using Battle Cards. Let me know what you think. Is it a good idea, or do you prefer the card-play method?
