Subj: Double Blind PanzerLeader Scenario

Double-Blind PanzerLeader Scenario
----------------------------------

Referee Information

This scenario must be played with double blind rules. Two sets of AH's
 Panzerleader must be available.

It is essential for the spirit and surprise of the game that reinforcements
be kept unknown to the players until their arrival. Add sounds and effects
as desired (clangs of tank threads arriving east, the noise of fighter-
bombers), this is an "atmosphere"-oriented scenario.

This scenario has been designed to put both players in situations which they
will judge, in turn, desperate. Players who do not abandon and still adhere
 to orders will be rewarded.

General layout of events :

A scratch infantry German force tries to break out eastwards against a more
mobile and very equal American force. However, on turn 3 a German Panzer
relief force enters in the Americans' back. The American player must not
collapse morally, and the German not get lax and forget orders. Time is
 working for the Americans.

For on turn 4, American airpower appears, and From turn 6 on, very powerful
 U.S. Armored Forces roll in...

Game lasts 13 turns. Both players set up simultaneously. The German player
 moves first.

German Reinforcements:

 Turn 4:
Relief force from 6th SS Panzer Army, enter on the East edge of board C.
   3 x PzIV (SS)
   2 x PzV Panther (SS)
   1 x PzIVb (King Tiger)

U.S. Reinforcements:

Note: All U.S. reinforcements enter on the North edge of board D.

 Turn 4:
   5 x Fighter-bomber

 Turn 6 :
  Armored Division arrives
    1 x M8 Greyhound
    2 x M4 Sherman (14-10-10-9)
    4 x M4 Sherman (11-8-9-8)

 Turn 8 :
    1 x M8 Greyhound
    3 x M10 TD

 Turn 10 :
    2 x M36 TD
    3 x ARM Infantry (4-2-10-2)

Oberst [insert player's germanized name here], having stood fast according to
the orders of the Fuhrer, last night our division was encircled by American
infantry elements, identified as 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion (3rd U.S.
Infantry Division), reportedly commanded by the infamous Major [insert other
 player's americanized name here].
Though our forces are now heavily depleted by weeks of fighting, and are
particularly exhausted, they must break out. As you know, yesterday I
ordered the guns to be sabotaged and all non-essential vehicles to be
abandoned in order to save what precious fuel we have left. you must now
bring all the remnants of your battalion together and save your men. As our
remaining forces consist mainly of our bravest and last experienced cadres
and include some of the division staff, we can not be allowed to fall into
enemy hands. Break out eastwards, to join hands with 6th SS Panzer Army
-which is reportedly doing efforts to save us- and continue fighting for
 Germany. and the fuhrer.
Be fast ! I know the situation is desperate, but we have no choice but to
push on regardless. The American ring must still be light, our only chance
lies in speed before it gets hermetical.

According to your last radio report, the forces at your disposal are:

8 Rifle Infantry platoons
4 SMG Infantry platoon
6 (horse) Wagon platoons
2 Truck platoons
1 StugIIIG platoon
1 150mm Assault Gun platoon (SW-38)

You will set up anywhere on board C. American forces set up on board D,

Game length is 13 turns

Victory points : 3 points per 271st VGD unit exited east, 1 point per U.S.
 unit destroyed.

(American VP : 2 points per German unit destroyed/still on the maps at game's
 end)

Commander, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion
message follows

Major [insert player's americanized name here], yesterday elements of your
battalion encircled German infantry elements, identified by your neighbor
unit as 271st Volksgrenadier Division. Congratulations !
Unfortunately, the krauts aren't finished. Though their forces are now
heavily depleted and probably near breaking point,a breakout attempt is
expected. You must prevent them from escaping at all costs. These German
remnants consist mainly of cadres and probably the entire division staff,
they can not be allowed to escape. They will certainly be trying eastwards,
to join hands with 6th SS Panzer Army, which is reportedly doing efforts to
 help them..
Hold out at all costs ! If you judge the situation to be desperate, delay
them whatever happens, until our Cavalry arrives. Given recent air
reconnaissance, you are advised to watch your flanks and rear. We're trying
 to find you air support.
According to your last report, the following units are at your disposal :

3 SCOUT Infantry platoons
3 M-3 SCOUT Halftrack platoons
6 Infantry platoons
3 MG (Infantry) platoons
6 Truck platoons
1 57mm AT Gun platoon
2 76mm AT Gun platoons
1 90mm AT Gun platoon
1 40 mm AA Gun platoon
2 81mm mortar platoons

You will set up anywhere on board D. German forces set up on board C, and
will try to escape to the east edge of board D.

Game length is 13 turns

Victory points : 2 points per enemy unit destroyed/still on the maps at
 game's end
