*About William Sariego's variant rules on the grognard website:

He gives a bonus to an intercepting Basileus, but I also think the Basileus 
advantage should play the other way around (when a Basileus is entering an 
area, he should be more difficult to intercept).
 
* For multi-player games such as Byzantium, I think the solution to increase 
fun and realism without lengthening the game is to have only the order of 
play determined randomly. I mean that instead of knowing in advance that 
(in Byzantium for example) the Moslem player will always conduct operations 
first, then the Byzantine player will always conduct operations second, 
etc..., a die can be rolled. For example, say that we are on Turn 3 of 
Byzantium, a die is rolled and as a result the Frankish player conducts 
all his operations, after he has played another die roll determines that 
it is now the Khazar player who has to conduct all his operations, etc...  
Again, an exception is made for turn 1: the order of play is not determined 
randomly but as set in the rules, because for example the Moslem player has 
to attack first in the Arab invasion scenario
