From: "Matthias Staber" Subject: Re: Empires of the Ancient World combat rules Date: 29 July 2002 18:32 EotAW house rule (I'm not sure if the first of these rules is official) 1. Diplomatic attacks can only be conducted against directly adjacent regions. The "all regions adjacent to the Mediterranean are adjacent to each other"-rule is only in effect when conducting military attacks 2. Your fortified regions are immune to diplomatic attacks if you have an engineer 3. If you are routed, either as attacker or defender, you have to shuffle in all your leaders with the cards used in the battle and they may be drawn as casualties by your opponent. These rules downgrade the diplomat and upgrade the enginer a bit . I played the game several timesthis way and it worked well, so I think I will keep these rules.
