Flavio Ezio - 04:31am May 5, 2002 PST (#2688 of 2706) I have both editions of Fall of Rome. I played many times the old one and I was pleased of an updated reprint of the game. However, I was disappointed after played the first 3 scenarios. In the first scenario the romans could conquer almost all map and in the 2nd and 3rd they did not found big problems. This is unhistorical. The original version had his flaws but, for example, the rebellions were more frequently, cause the player was more forced than in this update to group legions to fight enemies with some hope for victory. In the new edition with 4 legions a player has good chance to eliminate part of the enemies with a little risk of rebellion. I designed these rules changes hoping in a more difficult and historical game. (5.2 (2)) (Addition): exception.: if the province is Persia, Germania, Pictum and Scythia place the indicated number of Non-Roman Militia strength points. (8.0) (Change): Add modifiers: -1 if attacker has double or more strenght points than defender. -1 if Legions (loyal and rebelling) attacking. +1 if defender has more strenght points than attacker. Change modifiers: -1 if any Roman leader is involved in an attack or counterattack. +1 if Non-Romans attacking Romans in an area containing a fortified zone. (7.1) (Change): delete the "A" line from the Combat Results Table. Legions use the "B" line. (13.7) (Addition): If Rebelling Roman Legions are attacked by a number equal or greater of Loyal Roman Legions and a 1/2 D or 1/2D* is scored, after effecting the result the surviving Rebelling Legions are converted to Loyal Legions. If the same result is scored by Rebelling legions against Loyal Legions the surviving Loyal Legions will join the Rebels (after losses). (18.1) (Change): targets for Tribute may only be Persians and Barbarians. Treat all "F" results as "N" in periods A-E. (18.4) (Delete) (20.12) (Addition): add "without leader" after "Loyal Roman force". Try this and let me know your thinking. bye Ezio
