COMMAND 35: Mason Dixon Errata: ============================== Counters: The CSA 1995 artillery units and 1940 cavalry divisions were misprinted. Two US artillery divisions marked "C" should be marked "E." Replacements are provided on COMMAND 36's countersheet #3. The US has 34 one-sided units in 1995, 37 in 1917, and 71 in 1940. Map: The river running between 6609 and 6708 should be in hex 6609. The names of lakes Erie and Ontario were reversed. Change the weather number for June, July, August and September to "1." The city in hex 2817 is Wichita. 2.5 Add Machinegun to the MA=3 types. 3.2 Cities are worth one VP unless otherwise noted on the map. 5.5 Ship and Aircraft units are considered division-sized. 7.2 Reserves (units in excess of the combat stacking limit) take no part in the combat and cannot be affected by it. If all participating defenders are eliminated, the reserves take their place and the hex remains under control of the defender. Reserves cannot stop units exploiting into or through the defended hex, and may be subject to pocketing. 7.3 Change the last two sentences to read: The number of markers is a design limit. The marker always counts as one unit for stacking purposes regardless of the number of units in it. 9.4 The "+1" for attacks against units with positional advantage applies to all attacks against them, whether the disadvantaged units participate or not. 9.7 In all exchanges, "less than or equal to" means as close as possible to the defender's loss, but not greater. For two-step units, the full face value of the step loss is counted, not the difference between steps. 9.8 Delete ...and or retreats... and ...undisrupted... from the first sentence. 9.9 The counterattack takes place after the advance after combat or exploitation. If the attacker's hex is left empty, the counterattack is treated as an automatic DE and the counterattacker may advance/exploit accordingly. Counterattacker's may not be counterattacked. 10.1 The number inside the fort symbol is its defense strength. 10.2 Add this sentence: Units defending outside a fort may retreat into the fort after the combat is resolved. 10.4 Once a pocket is formed in a fort hex, all units are considered to be inside the fort, but they may attack out of the fort against the pocketing units. 11.1 If disadvantaged units attack, they must attack the enemy units in the same hex. If they do attack (and/or units outside the hex attack into it) and eliminate at least one of the voluntarily advanced steps, the erstwhile disadvantaged units achieve positional advantage in the hex. 11.4 Units inside a pocket may not use the same procedure to evacuate the pocket hex; all pocketing units must be out of the hex to rescue pocketed units. 12.6 Each artillery unit may support one non-artillery unit in combat. When supporting a unit, the artillery does not count against the combat stacking limit. Artillery may be flipped voluntarily to the non-firing side (this must be done if it moves to the GHQ box or uses admin movement). 13.4 In the Ground Attack section, change the third sentence to read: Add two to the hit die roll... 14.1 Dispatching a task force costs 2(CSA) or 3(USA) RP. Add the following: There are two sea zones: the Atlantic and the Caribbean. All ships operating along the east coast are in the Atlantic, those operating on the coast from 3434 to 6034 are in the Caribbean. Transport missions may be conducted during any one of the game turns of the month, unless prevented by bad weather. 14.4 Add new rule: A transport may conduct an evacuation from any coastal hex on which it could land an invasion. Place the transport on the hex; if a ground unit enters the hex during any subsequent movement phase, it may be removed to the Eliminated Units Box. Each transport can evacuate one unit per month. 15.1 Bad weather occurs if the weather die roll is greater than the number on the TRC. 17.2 The Mexican Protectorate and Central American Colonial units are available in the CS Force Pool box at the start of the scenario. 17.4 CSA Foreign Trade. The foreign trade marker does count as part of the CSA economy for purposes of ending the scenario; in other words, both the economy and trade must be reduced to zero. 17.5 This discovery must be made independently for each side. =================================================================== [17 May 1996 Update] 13.2 Interception. In interception combat, add one to the dice roll if its target's air rating is greater. When intercepting an escorted aircraft, fire at the escort(s) and the sortieing aircraft as a single target; all hits must be taken against escorts before the sortieing aircraft is hit. 14.4 Invasions. A naval transport may be placed during any movement phase, not just the first. 14.6 Naval Aircraft (clarification). Naval aircraft can only be fired on when they attack enemy ships (or are assigned to a ship, in the case of balloons); they may not be targetted. 15.1 Weather Generally. Bad weather occurs if the die roll is less than or equal to the weather. =================================================================== [12 October 1996 Update] There are eight M-D counters on the Hoorah! countersheet. Four are additional markers, the others correct errata. In the 1940 scenario, the CSA NBF mechanized unit is a "V" unit. The Eisenhower, Nimitz and McAuliffe counters replace the counters printed in issue 37, on which the names were unreadable.
