It's no surprise that the General Electric Information Network (or GEnie)
enjoys one of the largest and most active groups of online wargamers.  No
surprise because many wargamers and well known wargame designers have made
GEnie their home.  Almost every wargame company can also be found providing
official online support on the GEnie Network.

Some of the familiar names on GEnie are:  Jim Dunnigan, Rich Berg, Dave
Arneson, Jerry Pournelle, Austin Bay, Mark Herman, Al Nofi, Christopher
Cummins, Rex Martin, Frank Chadwick,  Gene Billingsley, and the list goes on. 
Official online support is available from these companies:  Avalon Hill,
Decision Games, GDW, GRD, FASA, Clash of Arms, GMT Games, Simulation Designs
Incorporated, Victory Games, and many others.  In addition, the Canadian
Wargamer's Journal and The Phoenix Wargamers Group are also represented
online.

But there are also lots of other wargamers on CompuServe, the various Nets,
local BBS systems, and in local user groups.  One reason this magazine has
been created is to link these gamers together.

While print magazines serve their purpose, months can pass before important
news about the hobby arrives in your mailbox.  As for articles, even if you
manage to convince a magazine editor that your article is worth publishing,
it can take YEARS before it actually appears in print, if it ever sees the
light of day at all.

There has to be a better way, and now there is thanks to computer
telecommunications!  If you have an article you'd like to see published and
read by literally thousands of other wargamers, I'd love to see what you have
to say!  Simulations Online will be uploaded monthly to the GEnie,
CompuServe, America Online, and the various Nets (we also have the ability to
send this up to BIX and Delphi) and I'm very much interested in getting
articles, feedback, and submissions from gamers an each of the services.
