> The Editor's Soapbox Welcome to issue nr. 3! Events at work and home kept me from releasing a decent issue of Simulations On line on May 15th, so I decided to hold off and change the release date to the 1 st of every month. In the end, it was a good thing that I did! This issue focuses on GMT Games. Gene Billingsley and the crew at GMT were working literally round the clock the middle of last month to get their newest game, HORNET LEADER, out the door bef ore the scheduled release date. And they did it! Advance reports on the game say its another outstanding GMT game and a real player. But because they were so busy working on the game release, the articles for Simulations Online had to wait. The articles did arrive and given my hectic schedule, everything worked out gre at! Because I had two extra weeks, I was able to make this issue nice and BIG! That should more than make up for the delay I think! :-) In addition the GMT Games articles, Austin Bay has submitted an insightful arti cle on the next potential international crisis, Yugoslavia. To round things off, at the end of this issue is an edited text of a major warg aming event, the first nationwide wargame auction held using computer teleconfe rencing! Three weeks ago over 25 wargamers got together for a marathon 5 hour- long wargame auction that saw over 45 classic and hard-to-find wargames change hands - some at unbelievable prices! I'd also like to introduce our first regular editor, Bob Kasten. Bob will be w orking as our official proofreader to catch all those errors I miss when I cut and paste all this text around :-) If you'd like to join the team, we're still looking for a few good regular staf f editors and authors. If you feel up to writing a regular monthly column for the magazine covering any aspect of the wargaming hobby (and all the fame and e -mail that goes along with the job), drop me a line! Enjoy!
