Game: Stalingrad: Advance to the Volga

(s10116)

Publisher: Revolution Games
Series: Solitaire Area Movement Series
Game Type: Board
Designer(s): Michael Rinella
Search for this and related games with Noble Knight

Description:

The campaign by the German 6th Army to crush the Soviet 62nd Army and capture Stalingrad has been the subject of numerous two-player designs. It is a situation known to most gamers but is presented here in a new and exciting SOLITAIRE format, the first in a series of single-player area movement games by publisher Take Aim Designs. Stalingrad: Advance to the Volga, 1942 puts the player in charge of the attacking and far more mobile German side while the game system handles the defending and largely static Soviet side. No two games will ever be the same. Each turn presents new and unique challenges for the player in the form of random events, uncertain supply deliveries, and unknown Soviet area strengths and defensive strategies.

Teach & Play for Stalingrad: Advance to the Volga, 1942

talingrad Advance to the Volga, 1942 puts the player in charge of the attacking and at the same time far more mobile German side while the game system handles the defending and largely static Soviet side. Believe me, no two games will ever be the same as disposition and composition of defenders will vary. Each turn represents new and unique challenges for the player in the form of random events (very painful), uncertain supply deliveries and unknown Soviet area strength and defensive strategies.

"The AI in the game works. It works really well in my opinion and is one of the things that I simply adore about the system." Grant Kleinhenz, in The Players' Aid, takes a first look at this Revolution Games title. Among a number of elements that Grant really likes in the game, check out the one that leads him to exclaim "I love this option and the choice that I have in it. It really makes the game feel tense and I find that I stress over each combat as I go through a turn."
